1. Overview & Scope
Welcome to Austin Aux (accessible at https://austinaux.com). This Privacy Policy explains how Austin Aux (“we”, “us”, or “our”), operated by independent artist and developer Austin Ross, collects, uses, and safeguards information when you visit our website, read articles in our Learn magazine, play interactive utilities such as EarBlitz Arcade, or download creative audio plugins and sample packs.
We are dedicated to transparent, privacy-first software development. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third-party data brokers.
3. Information We Collect
We collect information in two primary categories:
A. Information You Provide Voluntarily
- Contact Inquiries: When you send a message through our Contact & Support form, we collect your name, email address, subject category, and message text. Inquiries are processed securely through Formspree strictly for the purpose of communicating with you and resolving technical support questions.
- Digital Distribution / Orders: If you acquire digital downloads via Lemon Squeezy, transaction details and email delivery data are collected by Lemon Squeezy under their privacy policy. Austin Aux does not process or store credit card numbers or financial credentials.
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Log Data: Like most web hosts, server logs may automatically record standard browser request headers, your Internet Protocol (IP) address, operating system, browser user-agent, referring URLs, date/time stamps, and pages viewed.
- Anonymous Device Metrics: Non-personally identifiable diagnostic data to optimize viewport rendering, audio buffer latencies, and mobile responsiveness.
4. Client-Side Audio Software & Interactive Utilities
Austin Aux builds proprietary audio tools, digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms, and educational browser games. We follow a strict local-processing architecture:
When using interactive browser applications such as EarBlitz Arcade, microphone permission may be requested to enable real-time pitch detection via the Web Audio API. Your audio is processed purely in real-time in your device's local browser memory. No microphone recordings, audio buffers, voice snippets, or sound files are ever saved, recorded, or transmitted to any server.
Downloadable Audio Plugins (VST3 / AU / Max for Live): All downloadable audio binaries (including AuxClip Pro, AuxFormant, and AuxHarmonizer) operate entirely offline within your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). They contain zero telemetry, zero analytics tracking, zero DRM network checks, and no background network connections.
5. Analytics Services & Embedded Media
To evaluate site performance and reader engagement, we utilize lightweight analytics services:
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: Privacy-first, cookie-free web metrics that measure traffic patterns without tracking individual users or collecting personal identifiers.
- Google Tag / Analytics: Aggregated measurement of page visits, traffic sources, and performance diagnostics to improve site design and navigation.
- Spotify Web Player: We integrate Spotify's official iframe player to provide audio previews of Austin Ross discography releases. When you play a Spotify track, Spotify may collect usage data in accordance with the Spotify Privacy Policy.
6. How We Use Collected Data
Information collected is used exclusively for legitimate business and operational purposes:
- Delivering, operating, and maintaining website content, downloads, and interactive web tools.
- Responding directly to collaboration inquiries, technical support tickets, and bug reports.
- Monitoring site health, resolving 404 errors, and protecting against denial-of-service or security incidents.
- Displaying contextual and relevant third-party advertising to fund ongoing free software development.
